Location

Covering 100 hectares of tropical rainforest, Bedarra Island is part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and the Family Group of Islands; located approximately 10 kilometres offshore from the coastal village of Mission Beach, midway between Cairns and Townsville.

                              

Getting Here

Guests have the option of arriving at Bedarra by either launch or helicopter.

Our scheduled launch operates from Mission Beach on a daily basis.

Our arrival launch departs from Mission Beach at 12.30pm each day to arrive at Bedarra at 1:00pm (subject to conditions). Our departure launch departs Bedarra at 10.30am each day to return to Mission Beach by 11:00am (subject to conditions). We will arrange your launch transfer when you make your accommodation reservation.

Our scheduled helicopter transfers operate from Mission Beach and Cairns on a daily basis and arrive directly on our beachside helipad. Please see further information on helicopter transfers here.

Mission Beach is approximately 2 hours drive south of Cairns and can be reached by self-drive rental car or limousine service.

Accommodation

A total of nine guest villas, all featuring the following: Private Balcony, King Bed, LED TV, Ipod, Tablet, Pod Espresso Machine, Haiku Ceiling Fans, 3G Wi-Fi, Bath, Bath Robes, Hair Dryer, Mini Bar and Work Desk.

Reef Trips - SCUBA and Snorkelling

Private chartered reef trips to the outer Great Barrier Reef are available during your stay departing directly from Bedarra.

     

Offering either snorkelling or SCUBA trips for couples or small groups of up to six guests, our experienced guides provide a personalised and intimate reef experience like no other.

Guest Gym

The guest gym is located on the beachfront near the restaurant and lounge and overlooks Hernandia Bay. The gym features an eliptical running machine, an exercise bike, hand weights, fit bands, swiss balls, skipping ropes and exercise mats.

Check-In/Check-Out Times

Check-in is from 1:00pm and check-out is before 10.30am to coordinate with our scheduled launch transfer times.

Climate

The climate at Bedarra follows a fairly consistent pattern each year. Between April and September we enjoy beautiful mild temperatures with generally clear skies. October, November and December are warmer but perfect for snorkeling and diving with excellent water visibility. November to March can also become quite humid. The wet season arrives in January with the days being generally clear with the majority of rain falling during the evening. Tropical rainfall peaks in the months of late January, February and March. Closed Season

Bedarra is closed from late January until late March each year.

What to Bring

Casual resort style clothing and sun protection. Also include suitable footwear for beach and island walks.

Restaurant and Bar Facilities

    

Breakfast is available from 8:00am, lunch from 1:00pm and dinner from 7:00pm although all times are flexible and we will look after you anytime of day. The menu is varied daily using the freshest of ingredients. Breakfast comprises a tropical buffet with fresh hot breakfasts cooked to order, lunch is a lighter and more relaxed meal, and dinner is an interactive, ever-changing, multi-course experience. A fresh selection of fruit, cheeses and other snacks are available between meal times. Gourmet picnic hampers are available for lunch to enjoy on your own private beach. Our chefs pride themselves on being able to cater for special dietary requirements with advance notice.

Bar and Lounge

The resort's relaxed lounge features our self-service bar which is comprehensively stocked with Australian and imported beers, along with a quality selection of wines, champagne, spirits and liqueurs, all included as part of our tariff. A cellarmaster list is also available with a comprehensive and eclectic list of wines, champagnes and spirits for purchase.

Weddings

Bedarra is a spectacular location for intimate weddings. We can provide accommodation for a maximum of 16 guests. Please contact us for further information.

Travel Insurance

Bedarra is an island location and as a result we may need to cancel, change or delay your reservation due to unfavouable weather conditions or other unforeseeable circumstances. We recommend comprehensive travel insurance to cover this scenario.

Internet

All our villas have a 3G Wi-Fi internet services however speeds can somtimes be slow and the service can sometimes be intermittent. Wi-Fi internet is also available in our main reception area.

Mobile Service

Most of our villas receive mobile service signal from both the Telstra and Optus networks however the service is not always reliable in all locations.

Children

Unfortunately Bedarra does not cater for children under 16 years of age.

Room Service

Due to the distance between villas and the main building, we are unable to offer room service to villas.
